On your bike!
Looking for your next big Rhodes adventure? See the city on two wheels! This alternative way of visiting and having a good time is getting more and more popular. Moreover it is healthy, practical and fun.
From Rhodes to the Faliraki
Cycling is a great idea if you want to see the most important landmarks following your own rhythms and routes. In this case, the best idea would be to go on a ride from the centre of Rhodes town towards the Acropolis and the ancient stadium. From there cycle down to Kallithea Avenue going through the narrow streets of the old town. Following Kallithea Avenue will lead you to Kallithea Spa and later after passing the scenic beaches of Kallithea you will reach Faliraki and its famous beach.
Bike hiring agencies
If you are a visitor in Rhodes and don't have your own bike you can rent one from the bike hiring agencies located all around the island. Agencies rent bicycles by hours, days or weeks and prices are modified accordingly.
Cycling at night
It is a good idea to cycle in Rhodes Town at night. It's really exciting to admire the old town's unique architecture in twilight and the beauty of the new town when there is no more traffic in the streets. You can have a pleasant dinner somewhere outdoors, than have a drink and listen to the music in a different setting. When you feel like changing the atmosphere and going to dancing you just get on your bike and go. At the end of the night you don't worry anymore about finding a taxi or waiting for the bus.
Further afield
Do not forget there are really many great places to go around the island as well. Filerimos, Iallisos, the valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes) located not far from ParadeisiAirport or a route from Faliraki to Psinthos are great ideas to spend approximately three hours of pedalling in a pleasant green and mountainous environment.
